UK Team Visit
Hope Kids Special Education School recently had the privilege of hosting a training session with the team - Ms. Iqra Awan, Ms. Aara & Ms. Indiana Gardiner from City St George’s University of London, focusing on two impactful frameworks for supporting children with special needs.
The session began with an insightful presentation on the SCERTS model, where the trainers highlighted how Social Communication, Emotional Regulation, and Transactional Support come together to create a holistic, child-centred approach for learners with autism and other developmental needs. The discussion provided practical strategies that our educators and therapists can incorporate into their daily sessions to strengthen communication, emotional safety, and supportive learning environments.
This was followed by a practical and interactive session on Intensive Interaction. The trainers demonstrated how this approach helps build early communication skills, shared attention, and meaningful connections with children who have significant communication challenges. Through hands-on examples and guided practice, our team gained a clearer understanding of how to follow the child’s lead, respond to their interests, and create natural opportunities for engagement.
Overall, the training was highly enriching and empowering, equipping the Hope Kids team with evidence-based tools and renewed confidence to enhance the learning experiences of our children.
